Looking at a 1984 Concord boat. It is about 20 feet and has a 200 HP Merc on it. It is an open bow. I really like the boat but am somewhat leary due to its age. If anyone knows anything about Concord Boats I would appreciate any info you might have as far as performance, ride, problems, and strengths of these boats. The boat seems to be in pretty darn good shape, especially when you consider its age. Thankyou

When Concord was building boats they built a pretty strong boat, we used to see a lot of them in Michigan and always liked them.

Re: Concord Boat

I owned a 20' Concord bowrider with a 200hp merc that I bought new in 1988.
It was really fast but I was not impressed at all with the quality. I only owned it a few years but had lots of problems with hardware, fittings and had to reinforce some of the structure because of flexing etc. I know of one I/O Concord that had major structural damage from running hard in rough steep choppy seas. Mine had a carpet covered floor. I would make sure you have the hull checked out for integrity.

Re: Concord Boat

Look for the standard stuff that you would check on any boat. Spongy floor spots, transom rot, inspection of the stringers with mirror and lights, condition of gel coat and hardware, engine maintenance. There are a lot of older boats that have been well maintained and are in great shape. There are also 5 year old boats that are garbage. Get it checked out thoroughly.
