Considering the purchase of Twin '01225 Optimax's.
Owner claims compression #'s to be 85-105 on one engine and 85-100 on the other.
~900hrs. Price is VERY reasonable.......

Any opinions? Usable as is or not?

If the compression is within a 10% difference between their cylinders,a motor is good. Overall PSI is not important.

Perhaps talk to your local Mercury dealer about product support on these.-----Both by dealer repair shop and factory parts inventory.----numbers of 85 to 105 would be a concern to me.-------With modern manufacturing / computer controlled machines and inspection the compression would be within 5 PSI or less on a new motor.------Buyer beware.------Rebuilding these things is expensive !!
