Compression ??

I have a 200hp mercury outboard. It's a 1979. The compression is at 130 in all but one cylinder. One cylinder is at 115. Should I be overly concerned with the low compression or just periodically check it to make sure it's not dropping too fast. The boat goes about 45mph at 5000rpm. It looks like the chrome is comming off inside the low compression cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey black_knight,
Generally sounds like good compression....what do mean when you say the chrome is coming off the cylinder? Have you had the head off, and if so, is the cylinder wall scoured?
Backlash

Re: Compression ??

Re: Compression ??

I have not had the heads off. The guy who is replacing my switch boxes said he looked down inside the sprak plug hole and could see chrome coming off. I have not personally seen it
