Have a 97 Mercruiser 5.7 LX 4bbl with a Bravo 1. Have a misfire and was wondering if a compression test can be done with the exhaust manifolds and riser removed? Would sure make life easy.

Thanks that is what I thought but did not want to do it first and get false readings.

Take a good look at your spark plugs if you have a misfire situation. Their condition can tell you a great deal.

I hit a lobster pot buoy and wrapped the rope around around the prop. The engine shut off. When restarted it was running rough and could not get on plane.
