compression test

hello, mercury classic 50,is it best to remove all plugs before doing a compression test, or remove one at a time, cheers jonah.

Pull all plugs, disable ignition (safety lanyard) or ground plug wires, open throttle, crank until gauge reaches max reading.

I agree with D. - Just remember, dont stand behind the motor or have anything behind it that you dont mind getting dirty - the open cylinders WILL shoot out gas/oil mix (and pretty far too)!.<br /><br />P.S. - Stupid human trick - I learned this the hard way.
