I've got a mid 80's Mercury that says 45 HP, but is called the "Classic Fifty". It has 4 cylinders. It runs great. I just want to see if anyone can let me know if these compression numbers sound ok.

1. 130
2. 125
3. 120
4. 130

Thanks

Looks good. 120 might be just a shade low but wouldn't bother me if, as you say, "It runs great."

Dave..

You could try a good decarb it may help bring it up some. I have seen it help in many cases. Use Mercury powertune, deep-creep or ringfree. Run some through it(Spray carbs)while running. Pull plugs and treat all pistons/Rings and let it set overnight. See decarbing in FAQ. Tim
