Would anyone know what the round about compression reading should be for a 1982 70hp johnson outboard? Thanks.

Re: compression reading.

Most OMCs like compression around 95-110 lbs. Compression is not as important as the difference in compression between cylinders. Rule of thumb is %10 is OK. One other thing compression readings can vary quite a bit from guage to guage on the same motor. I was reading a post where the difference was nearly 25 lbs on the same motor with two different guages.

Also check the red search at the top of the page. You might try "70 hp compression" as a search arguement.
