Hello Folks,

I just checked compression on my 1994 90HP Force and it’s as follows:

145-143-123,

so I do have pretty big difference between 1,2 and 3rd cylinder (about 17%).

How bad is this?

Thank,

Alex

Re: COMPRESSION QUESTION

YOur head gasket could be bad. If the motor runs good I would do a decarb on it and then retest the compression. There is a forum here in iboats called frequently asked questions and it gives detailed instructions on how to decarb the motor. Before you do this pull your spark plugs and look at the differences between the contacts on the spark plugs. Is the number three plug clean and the other two dirty. If so chances are the head gasket is blown. This is not real serious if the gasket is the only problem. A new gasket is around 40 bucks.
Good luck
