Hey everyone!

I am just completing rebuilding my OMC 5.0. I got the heads machined, new exhaust valves, and a new cam/lifters.

Is there anything that I should watch out for that might not be covered in the OEM manual before the first start up?

Also, does anyone recommend any particular oil additive for the new cams break-in?

Just use the correct head gaskets. The cam when installed should have been oiled or use needle bearing installation grease(melts quick). If you use any GOOD oil you should be ok.Synthetics are great.Synthetics will mix with any oil(some don't think it will). Before initial start up turn the dist shaft(remove dist) and pump oil into the system.Jerry
