Hello and thanks for all the input I'm getting, this is a great site. So I have just purchased a 1963 crestliner with a 1966 60hp Johnson vxl-12R not sure what the R stands for serial#J2653971, . I'm looking at another lower end unit that is a long shaft 65hp for a 1968 motor. is this lower end unit compatibile with my '66 60HP motor???? Thanks again. My two boys can't wait to get it in the water and I can't wait to get my engine running.
