Compatability BW 1975 & 1982 70 HP Johnson

I have a 1975 70HP Johnson Outboard which runs OK but need some TLC. I have located a 1982 70HP which is not running but I could possible use for parts. Can anyone help me as to whether or not here are enough similarities between these motors to make getting the 1982 worthwhile, or would I just be wasting my money?

Ignition systems are not interchangeable between those years.

The ignition on my '75 is OK I was thinking more on the mechanicals, Starter motor, carby's, pistons etc, power tilt/trim unit gearbox etc

Any thoughts?

Look at the parts breakdowns of each engine and compare part numbers.

Under products, click on Johnson, then year, hp, etc... then write down part numbers you are curious about. Change to the second motor and compare.

I checked the link but it doesn't say whether the tilt/trim assembly from the "82 will fit the '75. Can anybody confirm if they are compatable.
