Hi. Would like to know if anyone knows what the differences are in these engines, particularly the midsections.

I have a 1996 90hp which needs a steering shaft and could use a swivel bracket as well if I can get my hands on one. I have been offered a complete midsection for a 2003 60hp and wanted to see if the parts are compatible.

The steering shaft is the same part # 3B7S62010-1 So that is ok, I can use that.

The swivel bracket number is different but only just! part # for the 90hp is
3B7S62313-1 and for the 60hp it is 3E0S62313-0. Does anyone know what the differences are, or could it be made to work if I used the complete 60hp midsection, just bolted my top section and lower unit ont it etc?

Would appreciate any thoughts!

Nissan/Tohatsu engines use the model number (M90A for example), and do not necessarily refer to year of manufacture when ordering parts and doing service.

What model motors are you working with? The transom brackets may or may not match up to the swivel bracket, depending on model. However, if you change over the entire clamp mechanism, that MAY work.
