So I acquired a 1983 Johnson 10hp commercial. Model J10RSM. I have had no luck finding this model to acquire parts like impeller and prop seals. I did however find a parts catalogue and service manual from a original publishing house but way overpriced. 100$ for manual and 50$ for a parts catalog shipping and tax. The bottom end on this motor has wings on the gearcase. Almost looks like a prop saver. Getting seals and impeller seams so far impossible without buying the catalogue . I was told that the powerhead though should be the same but unsure. Simple things like spark plugs make me unsure what to buy. Anyone ever heard of this model or have a idea of the spark plug to use?

A 1983 model.----What you have is the 9.9 /15 HP adapted to an older midsection , and older 9.5 / 10 HP ??? lower unit.----Also marketed as a 14 HP in later years.----Find the parts at a good dealer.----Take lower unit off.---Post diameter of driveshaft at impeller ( 0.550" ) I think.----Post pictures of pump parts

Your location ??----I have seen the 14 HP models but never a 10 like that.----One of the ways they got rid of old inventory is marketing motors like that.

I live in Ontario Canada. I've known about this motor for 30+yrs and it on a 14ft boat with a steering wheel. Back then always known as a commercial. I doesn't look like it was ever torn apart.According to the Johnson publisher Ken Cook Company,it is a commercial 83 10hp. You can still get shop manuals and parts catalog from them but big bucks in my opinion. I was told that i could get away with buying parts for a 9.9 on the powerhead from another marina who looked into this but unsure. Ok then Thanks. I'll drop the lower unit, measure shaft and post. Those fins around the prop look like a bonus prop saver and possibly help bring the bow down abit on my 12'.

Interesting. Kind of like a frankenstein. Newer top portion & a older lower portion. Good luck trying to find parts.

Ontario is fairly big.-----City near you is ?---Parts are easy to find.------evinrudeparts.ca-----In Ontario will help you.----There really are no heavy duty parts in this motor.-----In my opinion it was a marketing ploy to clear out old inventory !!

Strathroy is where i live. In-between Sarnia and london. 402 is a stones throw north.Thanks. Runs great. Water flows good out of pee tube. Held hand on heads while running in a bucket and barely warm.Just wanted to replace impeller or have backup and dont want to
guess on plugs.
