I had to fix a loose trim switch in a single handle Quicksilver Commander type Throttle control (Merc part #88688A25). This is the type with the thin metal tube up to the handle and you have to pry and/or break the switch retainer/cover from the handle to get to the switch because it is glued on when they make them. Got it all done and ready to put the cover back on. Does anyone know what type of glue they use to reassemble?

Type of glue should not really matter as lomg as you have a good seal. Try a silicone based caulking such as Paralastic or pure silicone or any good marine grade (aka Bathroom caulk). If you need to open it again, you can always cut it loose.<br />Michael ;)

Re: Commander Throttle/Shift/Trim Control Repair

Thanks for the reply Michael. I don't think there is enough contact area to get silicone to hold. I talked to a local Merc tec and a parts manager today. They did not know but suggested a 2 part epoxy. I also talked to an auto mechanic that suggested 3M plastic trim adhesive. I glued it together this afternoon with the trim adheasive. I hope it works.
