command center control box wiring

Im new and ive been doing some searching but cant seem to find what i need. im putting stick steering on my jon boat im running a 85 johnson 20 horse and i cant seem to figure out the wiring from the control box. There is a RED, YELLOW/BLACK, WHITE, TAN, PURPLE/WHITE, PURPLE and BLACK. Thanks in advanced.

Most OB wiring colors are standardized. Red is unswitched +12VDC; Black is ground; Purple is ign accessory (+12VDC), Tan is temp sender/alarm. If you look on the maxrules.com website, there are wiring diaghrams for OBs.

If wiring to a OMC ignition switch which has terminals marked B, M, M, C, A, S, (2 M terminals).......

B = RED (12v power supply)
M = BLACK/YELLOW (raised tower terminal - kill circuit)
M = BLACK (regular terminal - ground)
C = PURPLE/WHITE (choke or fuel primer solenoid)
A = PURPLE (anything you need 12v to when key is in ON or START position
S = WHITE (starter solenoid)

Ok thanks after hooking up the red power supply the black and yellow is hot when you with the key on is this correct? Also I think I forgot to mention this motor does not have the charging system

NO! The Black/Yellow wire is never hot if you're speaking of having 12 volts applied to it. That would destroy the powerpack.

no i hooked up the red wire at the starter sylinoid on the hot side. i have power comeing through the black/yellow, tan and the purple.

Disconnect the battery and have someone that's familiar with the engine wiring help you. There is no way possible that power/voltage could be flowing to all those wires.

Ok I found the prob with the black/yellow wire gettin fire. Someone swaped the white one with the black/yellow one on the key switch. But now when I hook my white wire to the s terminal on the silinoid and nothing. I have the red at the back of the silinoid hot side. The white on top of the silinoid solid black is on ground. Any ideas?

Gee, Joe posted the wire colors for the ign switch on 4/22. That should do it I would think...

Well I used what he posted and made sure everything on the key switch was hooked up right. There is no plug in on my motor or wiring harness so I have to figure out where all the wires hook up. I don't have a electric choke nor am I gonna use accessories. I'm not gonna hook up the buzzer. So that leaves a black/yellow for kill switch, a red for power supply, solid black as ground, and white for the silinoid. Which terminal should the white wire be on? And should there be another wire comming off the silinoid besides the one going to the starter?

The following terminals are on the back of the ignition switch. I am showing here where the other end of those wires should be connected. Best I can do.

B = RED (12v power supply) <--- This should be connected to the same large terminal of the starter solenoid that the positive battery cable is attached to, and it must have a 20 amp fuse in it.

NOTE: The other large starter solenoid terminal should have a cable running to the electric starter and nothing more.

M = BLACK/YELLOW (raised tower terminal - kill circuit) <-- This connects to the black/yellow wire of the powerpack.

M = BLACK (regular terminal - ground) <-- This leads to any ground that is connected to the engine's powerhead.

C = PURPLE/WHITE (choke or fuel primer solenoid) <-- This connects to the electric choke solenoid or fuel primer solenoid.

A = PURPLE (anything you need 12v to when key is in ON or START position. <-- This connects to tachometer voltage wire, anything you need 12v applied to when the key is ON.

S = WHITE (starter solenoid) <-- This connects to the small 3/8" nut terminal of the starter solenoid that energizes the solenoid (Not the 3/8" ground terminal). The other 3/8" nut terminal of the starter solenoid has a black wire that will either lead to a safety switch or directly to a powerhead ground.

Previously, I believe that you has 12v running to the black/yellow wire that runs to the powerpack. That usually destroys the powerpack but lets hope for the best and that you do have spark (ignition).
