Ahhh..To a musky addict this is better than Christmas or well nevermind. A three day show. All the top gator hunters will be here to give seminars to share techniques on how to catch this elusive warrior.

Emailed BubbaKat to see it wife would let loose of his credit card but to no avail..Got my favorite plastic card and it is now resting at the starting gate..I am sure there will be many toys that one may purchase. May have to invest in another lure box before this one is over..What color Grandma Lure did you want MellowYellow?

Re: Columbus Ohio Musky Show

If a Muskie show comes to your area"DON'T GO'. It was a nightmare believe me. Your hands will be shaking, confusion and terror will overcome you.

Once the bell rang I sprinted to the lead and never looked back. My plastic is still smoking.
Six one hour seminars was the only thing that saved me. A twenty minute break was given between to allow time for one to look and in my case buy to hearts desire.

My first victim was a 48" Frabil net wich cha-chinged out at 120$. Spent another 220$ and bought fifteen lures. I can't show all the lures here. Top lure is a grandma that MellowYellow so brags on. The witch at the bottom is 16" long to show you campare lengths. Did I do good or what.

Was so excited I woke other
half up at 11pm to show her my new toys(not a good Idea). As I was drinking my morning brew she came down smiled and said it was her turn to go shopping

Muskie you old dog. She will show you who can spend money :D Yea you have some there that I will be adding to my collection one day just as quick as I can find out where she hid that darn plastic. Bring them on down jeff and we'll see if they are any good. If it don't rain going out to our spot tomorrow and do some scouting.

They are grabbers Snapper..They are used to reach inside the warriors mouth to get out the barbs. This will eliminate any surgical removal of you fingers if you try and get out by hand :D The other part is a crimper.

I told ya bubba I was in deep dodo. I have not heard from her all day. Most my lures were 10" and above. I am done I have spent close to 350 Bucks on lures this winter. I can't afford my addiction and hers.. :)

Hey muskie, seems like that green is your favorite color, Is that just coincedence or is that the hot ticket for the spring esox? I am going to try my damndest to hook a nice size muskey this year  I do hook into a few little guys around 24 inch by mistake while fishing for bass in the spring, But I want a big un! Had a nice one follow a jointed rappla in firetiger to the boat last year,, actually hit the boat when he/she turned. hmmm maybe there is something with that color!?!?

Re: Columbus Ohio Musky Show

FlahtHead..Many colors I choose are based on foliage and bait colors..Reds and reflective patterns work best on sunny days. Over cast days perch, walleye and firetiger patterns are more visable..

In the spring I will start by the dams. Look for rock structures and where you have trees that have fallen in the water. I use alot of chartreuse colors mixed with reds and blacks.

At the show they had an underwater camera which showed many muskys that were near boat that one could not see. The figure of eight is important. Don't give up the ghost. Stick that rod down and give some violent eights.

Find feeder creeks or coves and look for headers that start dropping off. If you are really wanting a bigger fin go with a bigger lure.(ten" to 15") 20 to 30 lbers are great for the smaller stuff. But i am looking for that 40 up range(wishful thinkn here)Not a pro here by any means but I am learning their habits and patterns more each year.

Email me your lake and I will do a topo of it and will try and show you best areas to start. Still would like to go east for some tigers. I am thinkn in the fall where you are at..

Gonfishn, those sure are purdy. :) I would hate to be standing behind you in the boat when you haul off and cast one of those, could knock a person out. :D

Re: Columbus Ohio Musky Show

I had your email a while back but lost it when I got this computer.

Lake Nockamixon sits at. about latitude 40* 28' north
and 75* 11' west
In bucks county Pa.

A topo with some recomendations would be great. I know this lake holds only tigers, some bigs ones at that. Some of the biggest chain pickerel in the state come out of this lake. It is a tough lake to fish but it holds some real trophys. When you do the topo remember the shallows have a lot of weeds and lillys that tend to grow in most water under 6 feet deep. I know of some road beds under the lake and one bridge they left stand, but it is in 70 feet of water. Here is a link if you need it. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/nockamixon.aspx

Thanks Bill
