I have an open style fishing boat with an '05 Yammie F-60 tiller. This is it's second season of use.
The plastic gas tank is in a vented area under the bow and so the fuel line is about 15 feet long.
With my old motor a, Honda 30hp....the tank wanted to expand....a lot, if stored with vent closed, so I started leaving vent open at all times.
Now, since I repowered, my gas tank wants to collapse ....top and bottom . This cuts capacity almost in half....what gives?
What am I missing?

Thank you P.M.

Re: Collapsed gas tank

if the vent was closed during the winter. the air got cold and reduce in volume thus causing a vacuum suck the tank in. it has probably taken that shape. set in the sun and let in expand back out.

Why don't you just leave the vent open all the time? I have never closed mine ...

If you wants to expand the tank close the vent and put it out into the sun.

Re: Collapsed gas tank

Thank you all for your responses .I will close the vent and place it in the sun. I should have thought of that but I was mainly concerned about the cause of the "collapse" to start with.
BTW....I do leave the vent open all the time and maybe over the winter (here in western oregon) with only a small amount of fuel in the tank and the vent open...it collapsed (shrunk, distorted, whatever) and now i'll just expand it back to normal and everything should be cool, eh? Thank you......PM
