Should the compression bleed off quickly on a cold motor? Trying to decide if have a compression issue or not. Watched some youtube vids and those guys' motors seemed to hold the compression pretty well, but think they were warmed up already. I've got 80 and 90 psi on the 14 HP McCulloch which seems OK, but don't like the way it bleeds off within a minute or less. Sound normal or do I have issues?

Went through the ignition and fuel systems, but haven't had a chance to try to start it yet. *fingers crossed*

My apologies once again if this is not the proper forum. The Other Outboard Brands forum seems pretty deserted, so I posted here.

???----Compression bleeds off quickly in any cylinder.---------Sounds like the check valve on your gauge is kaputt.-------Perhaps test with another gauge.

OK, cool. Maybe all is good then Going to be honest here, I've never worked on an outboard before. I did not know it had to be so low in the water when I tested it. As soon as I saw no water flowing I shut it down, but still it ran for about a minute. Ran it again with good water flow and she quit on me and wouldn't start back up.
Thanks for the help.
