Ahhh. Duck season almost here and wouldn't be duck season without outboard problems. So I have a 25 hp Johnson 25r74w. It starts fine and idle ok. Went to wot and nada. Wouldn't go. Top plug not firing. Top coil I think is bad. The reason I think it's bad is u can wiggle it up and down . Like its loose on the metal part that runs thru it and mounts to the motor. It also has some other issue where someone cut a wire coming out of coil and it's spliced together with a elec. twist cap. So I need a new coil regardless. But would this seem right why the top plug isn't firing? Bottom coil is new and it's solid on the mount. No wiggle.
And what would the part number be for that coil. I'm having a hard time finding it under 25hp. Shows a 1974 15 hp but I can't find a 25 hp .
