Since I never can get a reply, I'll try it this way. '00 Yamaha 50hp four stroke with piston 1 & 3 not responding, but carbs are full of fuel. Primer on ignition switch does nothing. Motor starts, but idles poor and dies upon acceleration. Can accelerate if you nurse it. Tested electrothermal valves that choke 1 & 3 carb and that is fine. Those two cylinders aren't burning, plugs are wet. There is spark. Accelerator pump working. Any ideas?

You'll have to excuse Rod Knocking, he ain't got no couth.
Do I understand that nrs. 1 & 3 have spark but are not firing and those plugs are wet? If this is so, it sounds like 1 & 3 are flooding. I'm not familiar with your particular engine, I,m just thinking in generalities.

c/6

Hooty

I'm not sure what "electrothermal valves" are but if they choke or prime nrs. 1 & 3, I'd sure give them a hard look. I'm assuming this is a carbed engine. If it's f/i, I'm lost.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty

p.s.
Rod Knocking,
Where'd ya order yur couth from? Mine could stand toppin' off. ;)

Took both electrothermal valves off that choke 1 & 3 and tested on battery like the manual says to. They both open and close. No leaks.

Can ya take 'um off and leave 'um while you run the engine? If ya can I'd try that and see what happens.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Coil or ignition switch

When you say there is spark, have you verified by taking out the plugs and holding them to ground while the engine is cranking? I'm thinking that the flooding may have fouled the plugs...
