Code 14 Coolant Temperature Sensor for mercruiser 7.4 mpi

I need help finding the Coolant Temperature Sensor. I got the motor scanned and code 14 came up witch is Coolant Temperature Sensor. I can find a regular temp sensor but not a Coolant Temperature Sensor. My engine serial # is OL085399. And also a diagram on how to replace it would be good too or video / picture. Thank you

A serial number would help but it should be in the thermostat housing.

temperature sender operates a temp gauge

temperature " sensor" is an input to the ECM

completely seperate

unless you have a smartcraft gauge - which will display temp sensor readings

Don't really understand , on the seatrial the temp gauge was working as should. Why is it showing a code then? I was told that the coolant temp sensor just helps the engine idle when cold and warms up faster. Can someone please send me a link to the exact that i need to make sure I order the correct one please. Thank You
