hi guys, i just recieved a remanufactured cobra lower unit, purchased through IBoats, and the end fitting for the shift shaft was not supplied, i assume i have to use my old one, does anybody know how to separate this fitting from the shift shaft. the new shaft is not threaded , just ground to a taper at the top. let me add ,im very impressed with the workmanship on this unit so far.ill let you know how it performs ,thanx mickey1

not sure, maybe take out the entire shaft and head from the old one and install in the new?

before you remove the old one be sure to count how many turns till it comes free, if you do not have a height gauge. I cant see what it did not have the chicken lips on the end of shaft. was there any directions with the unit addressing this? might be because of a part availabilty problem.
