Re: Cobia Boats

I hope this may help you. I have a freind who has a 93 Cobia I/O. I believe it is 19-20 feet. The boat is fine and he takes great care of it. he bought it new and it still looks that way. The only thing is it is severely underpowered with I believe a 12O or 130 hp 4 cyl. It worked okay when his two boys were little but now they are big and love to slalom ski and it just isnt all that powerful. He wishes he would have gotten a V-6 175-200 hp now. Other than the motor the boat is fine.

Hope this has helped you although it really isnt in the areas you were asking for.

Deerdog

Re: Cobia Boats

Deerdog: Thanks for reply. My old Cobia, {1970 19'} which I really liked, was heavy for it's size, and was marginal powerwise with a 140 outboard. The hull was very well built, and probably why it was heavy. Didn't know about the newer one's, but a 4cyl i/o,especially with the extra weight of the i/o, would be a bit underpowered on most 19-20' boats. The fact that the factory would equip one that way suggests they may be pushing low price.
