Im not the greatest engineer, and I need some wisdom if you will please. WE run the Honda BF225, in the last 46 boat hours I have lost 3 lower units. 2 were rebulit and 1 was factory new. We are not supposed to open them up...it voids our warrantys. Does anyone have any idea of what may be wrong to keep damaging the unit? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You,
Sean.

Are you saying you have lost 3 lower units on the same engine? What do you mean by being allowed to open them up?

sorry, I should have clarified. The three lower units were all on the same engine. What I meant by opening them up was that the lower units are warrantied. We have been informed that if we take apart the lower unit that it voids the warranty and we are out of luck.

no sand bars that i'm aware of, we have not been towing. When I drain the gear case oil from the lower units I find no water/sediment in the fluid, there are also no metal shavings. The props show no sign of impact wear, water pump functions fine, and the intake screens are unobstructed.
