"Hi boss, this is Tim, I won't be in to work today."

I drove by his house about 10 minutes before the cops shut down all the adjacent roads.

Gunman, officers involved in Medford standoff for an hour - News - 95-5 WIFC Your #1 Hit Music Station - Wausau, WI

Armed standoff at or near his house.
Had a rep as a grumpy bad neighbor.
Can't wait to hear "the rest of the story."

Interesting he called first. That amazes me. I assumed that if you lose it and do something that requires SWAT, that you are not worried about your job.

Anymore info on what happened?

No, he didn't call first. LOL
And I doubt his "one phone call" was to the plant.

No additional updates.
No one I talked to seems to know if it was his house he entered, or his neighbors.
But it was after he entered, that he shot outward, through the window.

I'm betting it was his house, and he fired the gun to threaten his wife.
That may be why there are no address details or name of the woman in the house.

Anyway, he misses a couple days of work from incarceration, and the company will disappear him, as is their policy.

That sucks.. regardless if he was grumpy or unstable no one needs to snap and lose it.. Who knows what he had going on at home or in his mind for that matter. At his age he is to old for onset of schizophrenia.. isn't likely so it probably was due to stress..

Well hopefully he and his are ok through all of this ordeal..

atleast no one got hurt except his forehead and his pride.. well and his job..

I bet if he had a boat it would have happened sooner.. :grumpy:

Re: Co-worker loses it today.

It is actually very common for people in this situation to call first, its the first sign of a call for help, it doesn't have to be to the Police it can be to a friend or work, all very common, and a very good sign that things will end peacefully.

But I didn't read this that way, to me I read it as he at first intended suicide by cop, the problem is that the authorities handled this one properly and didn't rush things, First rule in Crisis Intervention is that there is no Clock, no timeline, take ten minutes take a week, actions determine the outcome and time is almost always in the favor of a peaceful outcome, almost always.

Well done Fellas!!
