A couple days ago i put a post on about my motor over revving. We thought my hub may have been spun out. so i bought a new prop. well put it on went to the river and it is still doing the same symtoms. anything below about 3/8 throttle will run fine. but above that the boat will not plane out. and will just rev. please guys i need help on this one.
thanks,
duckslayer

If the prop hub is OK, then the problem lies in the lower unit.

Most likely the clutch dog ears are worn. That requires a lower unit rebuild.

BTW, the clutch dog ears get worn off by "easing it" into gear. Bad idea. Shifts need to be swift and sure.

Are you sure the prop is just not "blowing out" (losing bite)? Did you just acquire this boat? If you owned it for awhile, has it always done this, or have you changed engine height by any chance? Slipping clutch dogs generally creates a ratcheting noise that is unmistakeable.
