Clunk with 3.0 omc?

A friend has a loud clunk from the outdrive area when traveling at about 10-15 mph.<br />Happens once then does not occur until the unit is stopped or put in reverse then forward again.<br />Anyone any ideas?

Is he trimming the out drive out?<br /><br />The clutch pack could be weak on the tilt.<br />When he engages Rev, the out drive backs out. When he puts it back into forward, the out drive slams back into place.<br /><br />TMD
