Re: Closed Water Overheating
somethings wrong somplace, that hose to the riser is the exit not inlet.water from a outdrive or engine mounted seawater pump goes into the heat exchanger, the output water is split between the manifolds and out the risers(1/2 system ) or just out the risers if a full system.
I disconnected the left side side of hose on Heat Exchanger (head on view)Ref Hose # 33 from the linked schematic

Water is circulated via the outdrive.
Sea water did pump out heat exchanger on side with disconnected hose
Boat always ran at 160 degress but this year it over heating. I think part #14 on right side riser in Schematic is also a "T" connection as part #13 (But I have to check).
I didn't install system but its been like this for 9 yrs, originally a lake for but now salt water for past 9 yrs. I thought t could be the impeller- but I am getting a flow of sea water through exchanger. I lauched late this season noticed it ran hotter than normal, about 180, but now it overheating.
Cleaned out exchanger.
Boat still in water- have not pulled off out drive as I seem to be getting seawater flow.
Could it not be the risers and maybe a struck themostate? The exchanger gets very hot.
Thanks for the help!
