So I have got a '96 Chap with 5.0 Mercruiser and a 58 gal. tank. I have had 3 occasions in the last 5 years say where some crap got up through the fuel pickup tube and got caught up in the anti-siphon valve. Not sure what the crap is, but it looks like some residue from the mud daubers in the vent tube that I got cleaned out. That anti-siphon valve catches crap easily simply by design with the little ball and spring. I do not have a filter on the end of the pickup tube, but am thinking about making one. It seems like most of the replacement pick-ups do not have a filter. I would thing that this would be a good idea, but maybe I'm the only one with anti-siphon valve problems. Anybody have success with a filter at the bottom of the pick-up, or does that get clogged up too.
