I,m getting a clicking noise when I back down on throttle quickly.I'm pretty sure its the clutchdog being overrun by the water pressure on the prop.Is this normal or is the clutchdog wearing out.Maybee the shift shaft height is off? Anybody heard of this before? THANKS (130hp Johnson 2000,90 looper)

Re: Clicking noise-lower unit

hey yea i just had this happen to my merc own vacation this past summer. i started hearing a cliking noise in my foot. about the third day i was fixen to pull a skier and i gave it the gas to get out of the hole and my gears in the foot stripped out. so i took it to a dealer close by and they told me it was the clutch dog but that was not the problem. anyway what im trying to let you know is before you do anything take the hub out of the foot anfd look at the gears and see if the teeth are broke or starting to strip out

its the water flowing over your prop making your prop spin faster than the gears around it, put it in nuietral and you wont hear it anymore
