Clicking noise alpha one outdrive

Just had water pump replaced. When unit was put into reverse new noise was heard. I shut Dow motor. When I moved the prop by hand in reverse a clicking sound was heard. Is this due to a misalignment during the rebuilding/replacement of the water pump?

Sounds like the shift linkage wasn't timed with the shift shaft in the lower unit. These I/O's MUST be put in forward gear befor the lower unit is removed and the lower unit shift shaft MUST be in forward gear on reassy. The prop will rachet in one direction as the gearsets are of the dogtooth design.
