I have a 1996 135hp Alpha One. Well maintained. At high rpm's there is a clicking noise coming from under the engine cover. If it is related, I have noticed a slightly declining drive oil level. Thanks in advance!

Impossible to say.
Could be from the engine, or the drive, or even in between. Like Boomyal said, get a stethescope and find out where exactly the noise is coming from, then you can at least check the proper area.

If you can tell it's not the engine, pull the drive. Water in the bellows of many an outdrive has caused many a noise from the gimbal bearings and ujoints. Also check the drive oil, it could have water in it.
May even be water shutters if the engine has a high rpm miss.

Re: Clicking Noise @4000rpm

I apologize for being so vague. I will investigate further and come back here. If it helps, it does not start until I have been running at 4000 rpm for several minutes, and once I power down it goes away. Exhaust perhaps. Thanks for your help.
