I need to clean or rebuild my carburator on my 40hp envinrude. I was not getting any power on full throttle and was recommended to do this from the great people on this board. However there is a huge back up to get the boat in. How hard is it to do this yourself?????? If I have step by step instructions I think I could handle it. Can anyone point me in the direction to get the know how. Or should I just hang in there and wait for an  opening..... Help missing the fishing....

Re: cleanning or rebuilding carb

Hi Kathy,

The best advice that can be given is, get a service manual to do the job. It will tell you how to remove the carbs and how to rebuild them.

OEM service manuals are preffered. You can get one from your local Johnson/Evinrude dealer as well as carb kits.

It's not a difficult job nor do you have to be a brain surgeon to do it. But a how to book is a must. Don't forget to take the model number of the engine with you to order the manual.

Good Luck.
