Have an older Seadoo that the previous owner had an exhaust hose leak that looks like it was for a long time. I plan to remove everything, clean the bilge and re-paint it. Problem is that everything will look good except the styrofoam on the sides which are pretty oily/sooty. There is no way to get them clean and my experience with styrofoam is that if you try to paint it, it will melt. Any ideas to make it look better?

Re: Cleaning the Bilge

spray it down with common oven cleaner, then let it sit for 30 min and rinse it down. that foam is different than regular foam I just did one and even used a preasure washer with a wide spray and low preasure and it worked fine also painted some with spray paint with no problem so try a spot and see if it is ok, if it works you are fine. if for some reason it eats the foam you will need to use latex but I just used spray paint and had no problems
