I keep my boat in the water over the season and this year when I pulled it there wasn't time that day to clean the Stern Drive. There is a lot of dried green gunk or maybe algae on it. What do you use to clean it without taking the paint off?

It's dried on...what will loosen it? I have a pressure washer and it doesn't get the hard stuff.

Well, as you have learned, don't let it dry for very long. You can still try Slimey Grimey or Oxalic Acid as it will usually "melt" the organic stuff off. Just let it sit and work for a while... hour or 2. Then you need to scrub a little - I use Dove dish detergent and a rag/soft brush... but I don't remember why? This is mainly for the grease/oil left on the hull.

I'd be very careful with a pressure washer if you have a rubber boot (bellows) on the outdrive. It could poke a hole in it!
