cleaning salt and grease from outdrive?

Redoing bellows cable ETC. Pulled bell housing. I want to clean it up nice. ( no paint) Is there a product that dissolves dried up salt and grease from all the nooks and crannies? Some sort of spray can solvent?

Side question: should I remove the shift shaft/arm in the bell housing and clean and regrease? If so how does it come off/on,,All I see is a set screw on the arm with the roller...alpha one gen 1

Water for salt buildup. Vinegar or CLR for lime scale. Acetone for grease residue.

Remove the set screw completely. I’ve never removed it just to grease, but there is a redesigned bushing/seal that can be installed to remove some of the play.
