Cleaning out Waverunner engine compartment

OK, I'm new here but have been a good lurker. This place is unreal, so much activity.

I picked up an 01 Yamaha 800 and it looks like it might be a small project. The engine and rear compartment need a cleaning bad. Can I pull the rear drain plugs and low pressure wash this with soap and water like with a garden hose? What risk is there?
