Cleaning O2 sensor

I dont have the proper socket to remove the O2sensor. I serviced the pin within the housing which was easy enough to get to.With the O2 sensor still within the housing ,is it a decent idea to spray clean it with carb cleaner.Any downside to it?? besides being a little messy. Charlie

Not an OB guy but maybe my comment will bring them in
You don't want any kind of moisture near a O2 sensor. The carb cleaner may not totally burn off before it gets to the sensor, and if this happens it can damage it.

What kind of problem are you having?

fixed an issue by cleaning the o2 housing .Figured I would clean the o2 sensor since I didnt have the correct socket to remove it for inspection.Thanks Charlie

Always include the year, model and serial# when referring to
specific repairs??
There's a "sensor" (like an EGR valve)on some Yams that gets really carboned up and needs a good cleaning, yet it's not on all Yams.
After cleaning the motor runs a lot better.
