Anyone have any ideas on how to remove black marks and dried on fish blood from a fiberglass deck on a center console boat? I have tried Simple Green and Comet with little sucess.

Is this a waxed surface??

If not try Super Clean. You can get it at walmart in the Auto section.

Of course you want to test a small area first but it is strong and will clean most anything.

boat soap, diluted bleach in a bottle with deck brush worked for me.
there is also a foaming nonskid cleaner, it works on some stains.

Re: Cleaning fiberglass

Scott:
I was just reading an article in Trailer Boat mag about cleaning stains off fiberglass.

They suggested acetone or denatured alcohol. If that doesnt work they said to rub lightly with rubbing compound, and then, of course, wax.

Stay clear of bleach. I've noted some posts that suggest using bleach, but the mag said not to.

Re: Cleaning fiberglass

My wife found this great product: "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser". Looks like a styrafoam sponge. Have tried numerous boat cleaners on our hull to get that mucky stain off...nothing worked that well. So, out of curiousity, we tried it on the hull one evening after my wife first bought this. Just wiped it away!!! Don't know what's in it (does not appear to be any acids), but it really is amazing! Oh...you can get it at WalMart.

In the Dollr Store there is a product called Lightning Bolt. It is cheap, can be sprayed from a cheap spray bottle, and clean darn near anything. Not only is it the best and easyest thing I have to clean my boat, it helps keep stains from reappearing, so some reason stuff doesn't stick to the boat when I wash it with Lightning Bolt.

Careful on using acetone. It can degloss/soften the gel! Especially if you let it sit to long. Only in the last resort I would use acetone, and only very little amount at a time. BTDT with some uh oh's.

SS
