Cleaned the carbs today on an 85 Force (1987) and put them back on and now gas is coming from the vent on the bottom carb. We noticed that the needle for this carb sat a little lower than the rest but didn't think much of it. Can anybody suggest what is causing the gas coming from the vent hole? Thanks

Re: Cleaning Carbs

Check the inlet first--a small piece of junk may have worked into it and is preventing the needle from seating properly. Spray it with WD40.

If it is a rubber-tipped needle, the top may have broken off. If that happened or if the rubber tip is ridged or gouged, replace the needle. If it is a steel-tipped needle, the rubber seat may be bad. If it has screw in seatsremove the seat and check the rubber If it has pressed in seats and the seat is bad, then you must replace it.

Check the float height. With the carb inverted, the float should be parallel to the casting.
