I just bought an aluminium boat with a hull that has a bunch of grunge around the waterline. I've tried metal polishes ect, but nothing seems to work... A friend of mine sugested muratic acid and water solution, but I would like to find something a little less aggresive... Anyone have any sugestions???
Thanks-

I would recommend Rolite Polish in the paste form. Its a bit more aggressive. Use an elec. polisher at 1900 rpm.

Depending on the grunge I have used Simple Green, a green scouring pad and tons of elbow grease. If you have access use a pressure washer sfter you have left the simple green to soak in.

Bob

Igrumps, I use The Works, a toilet bowl cleaner found in any grocery store. Just spray it on, wait a couple of minutes, maybe brush it with a plastic brush, rinse with water....et voila', your hull will look as brand new.

Do it outside and NOT on a lawn, since fumes are a bit nasty, and it will kill grass. Don't try hull cleaners, it's just money wasted.

Swish Industrial supply has a product called aluminum cleaner and brightener.(prefix AG34 or something like that)Use it straight,it's an alklyd sorta like muriatric acid only it doesn't change the properties (weaken) the metal.
~Bruno

igrumps,

I use ordinary 409 - spray it on, rub it with a nylon scrubber, rinse and the grunge is gone. Sounds like a tv ad - but is works.

Semper Gumby
tcube
