Last night my son and I went to a local classic car show & I thought I'd share a few pictures of some cars that made my mouth water, that I lusted after in my youth, and that I will go to my grave only dreaming about!

I don't think I took a picture of it, but there was a 60's Mercury Comet there with a 465 hp V-8 - and it all fit under the hood! Unbelievable, that would be plain scary! Love the old Challengers.

My brother let me borrow his 71 Mustang for a couple days once and that's the closest I ever came to "having" a muscle car. It was fun, had a 351 & 4 speed.

Wow I must be getting old. I had a 73 Torino/351 Cleavland, My brothers had a 73 Mustang and 69 Vet. My mom had a 67 Mustang. My Dad,s 70 Nova with a 350/350hp really cranked. A Buddy of mine had a Supper Bee another had a 67 Chevell. Plus then we all got into 4x4ing and on and on. Cool rides have always been part of my life.

Lakelover if you get a chance get one there a blast.

I love that 1970 mach mustang. My first car was a 1970 boss 302 with the original boss and 4 speed however was a long way away from the shape of that one up there. Nice pics lakelover. I'll have to get some of my 29 sedan and my 81 vette loaded up on here.

Re: Classic car show - a few pics

Our French teacher in HS had a Boss 302, that was around 1970 & I had a friend who had an early 70's Barracuda, & one who had a 69 (I think) Mach 1, one who had a 69 Z28. I may have some of the years wrong... I later had a 75 Gran Torino, but by that time, they had sucked the life out of the Torinos. It was a dog.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread. The drool is running down my face. This spring my dad offered to give me his 67 RS Camaro convertible. It needs work but it's an easy 20 footer. I turned him down and he sold it. I'll probably regret that but it went to an older guy who's going to bring it back to better than new and who will love it even more than I did. With the boat I really had no room for it. I still have my 67 Ford F100 that was a backyard restoration, 30 footer but has a wicked 390....and I can tow the boat with it!

:D My band teacher had 10 kids and bought a Ford station wagon with the 390. I guess he needed it!

I don't think I could own one. I'd just want to drive it too much.

Those were the high days of automotive design. Cars like that have sooooo much style. Even the Javelin is just a pretty car. That Challenger looks fast just sittin' still.

Now I want a Mustang again...

Most kids these days don't like muscle cars.
They have no sense of style at all.
Those are awsome cars.

My 1st car was a 1955 Olds Holiday 2 door with a 455ci rocket engine. I loved watching 120mph show up on the speedometer as often as I could! My little brother had a Torino and I had a Mustang back in the '70s. We swapped for a week and it was awesome!

I dragged my wife to Iola one year when it was in the upper 90's:(, now she HATES car shows. Since my 5 & 7 year olds love old cars she can't say no when there's a show in town:) My dad had an AMC franchise so there's a softspot in the family for Javelins and AMXs, my oldest can't wait to restore an AMX.
