As a reminder I posted a couple of weeks ago about what I thought was a bad stator. I ended up at the dealer who diagnosed and replaced a bad switchbox. Thanks again to all who responded to that post. I put on the lake today only to find gas pouring out of the upper carb. Seems like the dealer would have found this if they had tested the engine after they worked on it. Anyway, could this possibly be a float problem? Motor information: 1988 Classic 50..45hp Merc., 4cyl Type V ignition, Type "B" carbs. I'm a little confused about the carb type. Manual says "B", but they have integrated fuel pump on the side, where mine do not. Any ideas welcome.......Thanks fellas............jg

****!! Maggot Marine strikes again. Actually, JG, this could have been okay before you tilted her up to tow. Small chance.

Sounds like stuck float to me.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Thanks JB. I just pulled off the bowl and a small, halfmoon shaped piece of metal fell out from above the float. I'll finish removing the carb tomorrow to see just what the heck this part is. I don't see it in the manual. I hope the float isn't coming apart. It was just installed a few months ago.
