Does such a thing exist in a 12 volt unit? I don't need much thrust. 30 or greater lbs. would work for me. I did a search, but with so many variables..nothing came up.

I have two boats, one ( A Gheenoe) lends itself to a clamp on; transom mount; remote control... The other boat (Carolina Skiff) could get by well with the same set-up. I use each boat during separate seasons, at separate locations...so, being able to move the TM back and forth would work well for me.

Previously, I've owned Powerglide units. They are bolted on; weigh a ton and are relatively expensive, IMHO.

I'd need a 42 inch or greater shaft length. thanks Rich

You would be much happier I think with a Power Drive (not Power Glide which is an ancient Chevy automatic tranny) or a Motor Guide equivalent. You use a quick release plate to make the switch from one boat to the other and you can control the motor from anywhere in the boat. Have not seen a stern mount remote. The swtich takes less time than with the clamp on affair.

Power Drive/ Power Glide...Hey, watch who you are calling "ancient" !! Ha ha...

Now, can you guess what automatic transmission I had in my first car...an early 50's Chevy??? Yep, it was a Power Glide. I guess my failing mind failed some more this morning. I remember calling it the Power SLIDE when I wanted to get away from a stop sign in a hurry.

I was afraid that your answer is what I would get. The power DRIVE units actually worked very well...but...they are heavy as all heck. So, no stern fitted TM's with remote steering??? I wonder why not? Rich
