Hi All,
I need to replace the circulating pump on my 1996 5.7 L Alpha one gen II. Not a big job. Done auto pumps before. But I would like to know if changing it while the boat is in the water is a bad idea? A mechanic tells me I have to be concerned that lake water could run in while the pump is off?

thanks
tom

Don't be concerned . . .

You should not have a problem.

So, I guess my concern is how much water will spill into the bilge when I remove the pump. OR, Should I drain the engine first?

maybe a couple of gallons or less, no worries about flooding the boat
