Automotive Circuit Breaker Definitions<br /><br />I see people referring to circuit breakers in aux battery charging postings, beware of the two types available for purchase. <br /><br />Automatic Reset (sometimes called “Cycling”)<br />· Trips when subject to overcurrents, then automatically resets after a period of time.<br />Remote Reset (sometimes called “Non Cycling”)<br />· Trips when subject to overcurrents, then remains open until power or the load is removed.<br />Current Rating<br />· The current level that a circuit breaker is intended to continuously carry, without tripping, at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C.<br />Current Re-Rating<br />· Change in current carrying capacity with respect to ambient temperature.
