My buddy's got a spot on a 1200 acre lake that I have heard is great for catfish. Where his dock is it's only about 5 foot deep. The catfish do not seem to come into his cove until mid summer. And then most of them are small. If i get some catfish food and throw it in every time I'm there will this help bring the fish, or am I wasting my time? Any thoughts

It's worked for me. Canned corn will work too and it's allot cheaper.

Once you start, you have to keep it up. Fish are somewhat territorial, just like other animals. You need to get them to change their routine.

we are only up there on the weekends. Will the fish remember where the food is if it is only done every six days during the summer. When I was a kid I was catfishing with three poles on a county park lake early in the morning when a county worker fed the fish I caught two five pounders and the third pole got lost in the water. I just wonder if the same priciple applies on a larger lake.

Stl if you add some structure if front of the dock i.e. cedar trees it will hold bait fish and larger fish too. Feeding them only on the weekend may not get the response out of the catfish you are looking for. You can by feeders that have a timer on them and they will go of every day at the same time this creates a triggered response from the fish. And the water will boil after a few weeks of feeding. That may be the Acton you are looking for. Remember to take some youngsters with you and pass on a great sport. Sweeney makes a good feeder. Good luck!

Buy a few large cans of the cheapest catfood you can find. Poke some holes in the cans and you have a great slow release attractant for Catfish.
