Hi, just found this site and I hope someone can help. I have a 1987 85hp Chrysler and I do not know what plugs to put in and the gap. I have called two boat places and got two different answers.<br /> Plus, when I go full speed the boat starts to plane but it will not plane out. At the end of the day it started to get better but still not the way it should have. Bad gas or what?? Please help.

I have a 1975 45HP Chrysler, I was wondering the same thing. What type and model spark plugs do I need and what is the correct gap. I am experiencing the same problems. The motor starts easily and seems to run fine, but will not plane out the boat.

Bmoore your plugs acording to the manual are suppose to be champion L4J which are no longer made. The replacement for these plugs are champion L82C gap .030. I am using them in my 67 45HP chrysler and they run without any problems. The next hotter plug would be a the L86C Sorry DJR. Your motor is too new for my manual.
