I just got this boat. I do not think it has been used for at least a year. I need to know what type of gas and to use. As well as any tips on how to get it ready to use.
Thanks

Re: Chrysler Charger 115 hp outboard motor

Hello doey and welcome to iboats. Have you seen it run before? I would get the compression tested and do a spark test first. Gas ratio is 50 to 1 using a good quality marine outboard oil with TC-W3. If compression tests good and you have spark you will want to put the lower unit in water and try and start it. Use standard unleaded gas. You will make sure motor is in neutral and the throttle is cracked forward. While pushing the key in turn key to start it. Crank it for about 5 seconds then wait. Keep doing it till it coughs. By pushing the key in you are choking the motor. The reason for the compression test and spark test is if compression is bad you could have head damage and it wont be worth trying to fix it. If spark is not good finding correct ignition parts is hard and expensive. If it is fuel problems they are easy to fix. Good luck and post back with any questions.

PS if you do get it to start and plan to run it you will need a new impeller. You will also need a service manual

Thank you everybody very much for your help.
My only question is to test it why do you use an oil gas blend.

Re: Chrysler Charger 115 hp outboard motor

Because it is a two stroke motor and it requires oil added to the gas. Water cooled and air cooled two strokes require different lubrication. TC-W3 is rated for water cooled. If you dont add oil to the gas the motor will burn out within minutes of operation.

Hi I have a fully running chrysler charger 115... I am looking for ideas on how to find another impellor and or water pump kit as it will eventually need replacing....Obviously out of production now....Does anything compare in parts or any ideas where i could look in the world??. Goes like a rocket and heaps of fun on the river...

Try ishopmarine.com, maxrules.com or here on iboat, but I think the best is Franzmarine.com .He was a dealer when Chrysler/Force still were made.
He has factorymade and aftermarket parts and he is really serviceminded.
