Chrysler 75hp shift pivot screw

Hi,
So….new to boating and have an old Chrysler 75hp outboard. Drained the lower gear oil, but found out there is 3 screws, ALL flathead. Apparently reading online one is a pivot adjustment screw? I screwed it back in, and I believe it’s ok……but……my question is, does it just screw in all the way until snug or does it only go in so far for adjustment?
Im worried it went back in but may not be proper. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
